On November 4th and 5th, 16 teams enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at 10 different universities in the northeastern United States and Great Britain convened on Columbia’s Morningside Heights campus for the inaugural New York Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge.

The two day policy competition, which centered on a scenario involving the threat from the Internet of Things (IoT), provided students across academic disciplines with an opportunity to delve deeper to gain a greater understanding of the policy challenges associated with cyber crisis and conflict. The event gave students a unique opportunity to interact with high level cyber professionals while developing valuable skills in policy analysis and presentation.

SIPA’s Digital and Cyber Group (DCG) and the Atlantic Council were co-hosts of the competition, which was sponsored by SIPA, PwC, and Bank of America.
